The full overview

When you buy a PR platform in the Netherlands in 2026, the licence fee is only part of the total cost. Most vendors add charges for getting started: a setup fee, onboarding hours, training sessions, data import work or implementation days. This guide explains how those lines work, what they cost and which Dutch providers publish a price for them. It sits above 25 articles that each cover one specific situation, from a hospital press office to a startup with a single user.
What is a setup fee on a Dutch PR price list in 2026?
A setup fee is a one-off charge that covers the work of activating your account. It can include creating your organisation profile, configuring user roles and connecting your domain. Some vendors list it as a separate line on the quote.
Others fold it into the first year of the licence. The product pages of PR-Dashboard, read 1 September 2026, name one price for each product and do not mention a separate setup fee. That means the published amount of EUR 1,750 for PR-Newsroom and EUR 2,700 for Persvragen is the total for getting started, with no extra line on top.
How does onboarding differ from a setup fee for Dutch buyers in 2026?
Onboarding is the process of teaching you and your team how to use the platform. It can be a one-off line on the quote or it can be included inside the licence. When a vendor publishes a monthly price, like Prezly at EUR 100 per month for Essential or EUR 250 per month for Standard, the onboarding is often self service.
The buyer follows a guide or a video series. When a vendor publishes a yearly price, like Presspage at EUR 20,000 per year for Business essentials or EUR 35,000 per year for Enterprise full platform, the onboarding is usually a separate line with a day rate. The Presspage plans page, read 31 August 2026, does not state whether onboarding is included or charged separately.
What does training cost at Dutch PR vendors in 2026?
Training is priced per person, per session or per day. A vendor that offers offline sessions, like PR-Dashboard with its PR-Bootcamp product, sells knowledge sessions as a separate product. The product pages, read 1 September 2026, do not list a price for PR-Bootcamp.
For vendors that charge a day rate, the training line on a quote can range from several hundred to over a thousand euros per day. The exact amount depends on whether the training is in Dutch or in English and whether it is for one person or a group. The ANP Connect tariff page, read 31 August 2026, lists yearly plans from EUR 2,990 for Database only to EUR 30,000 for Strategie, but does not mention a separate training price.
Which Dutch PR providers publish a price for setup, onboarding or training in 2026?
Most vendors do not publish these charges on their public pages. The pages we measured on 27 and 1 September 2026 show that Prezly, Mynewsdesk, Prowly, Presspage, ANP Connect and PR-Dashboard all list a licence price without a separate setup or onboarding line. The exception is vendors that sell per press release, like ANP Connect with EUR 499 for a press release to trade and regional media or EUR 795 for a press release to national media via ANP-net, and B2Press with EUR 400 for Basic to EUR 1,950 for Exclusive.
Those prices include the distribution work but do not state whether setup or training is extra. A buyer should always ask for a written quote that separates the licence from the setup, onboarding and training lines.
How to choose between a licence with setup included and one with a separate line in 2026?
The mistake many Dutch buyers make is comparing a licence that includes setup against one that charges it separately. The first licence looks more expensive until you add the setup line to the second. The safe method is to normalise every quote to a total cost for year one, including all setup, onboarding and training lines.
For a team of two, the PR-Dashboard product pages, read 1 September 2026, show De Perslijst at EUR 2,650 per year for two logins, which is EUR 1,325 per user per year. That amount includes the journalist database and the sending system with no separate setup fee on the page. A vendor that charges EUR 2,000 per year for one user plus EUR 1,000 setup ends up at EUR 3,000 for year one, which is higher per user. Always ask the vendor to confirm in writing what the setup, onboarding and training lines cover and whether they are optional.
What to check before you sign a Dutch PR quote in 2026
Check whether the quote lists a setup fee, onboarding hours, training sessions, data import work or implementation days as separate lines. If the quote shows only a licence amount, ask the vendor to confirm that no extra charges apply for getting started. Check whether the training is per person or per session and whether the language changes the price.
Check whether adding a user mid year triggers a second setup line. Check whether the vendor charges for DNS, SSL or a subdomain if the product includes a newsroom on your own domain. The PR-Dashboard product pages, read 1 September 2026, state that PR-Newsroom runs on the customer's own domain but do not mention a separate charge for domain setup. A buyer who asks these questions before signing avoids a surprise invoice after the first month.
Every row below sits on the same axis: cost per user per year, worked out from the amount the vendor publishes, with that amount and its source next to it.
